Overview / What We Do
A Worship Commission exists within each parish and within the Family of Parishes. It serves as a planning / oversight activity for weekly masses, holy days, sacramental celebrations, and major parish events tied to the liturgy. The group also oversees volunteer groups who provide vital contributions to the St Michael liturgies. The Worship Commission takes into consideration the needs of the Parish as expressed by the clergy, staff, other commissions, and parishioners. Meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday beginning at 6:00 PM. Minutes are kept to document discussion items, decisions, and attendance.
Eligibility, skills and selection
The Worship Commission consists of 7-9 members of the parish who are fully initiated, active, and practicing Catholics. Members are required to attend all meetings, commit to one year term (may be extended) and be actively attending mass. Members should demonstrate the ability to work in groups, have a basic understanding of the liturgy of the Mass, and have constructive input and discussion at meetings. One must also be able to volunteer to help at Worship activities (Memorial Mass, etc.).
New Worship Commission members are selected by an individual expressing their interest in being on the Commission to the Commission Chairperson and agreeing to abide by the requirements set forth in the previous paragraph. We welcome one and all that are willing to participate and devote time and effort to work for the betterment of St. Michael and the People of God.
